Adopters do not browse — they filter. Size, age, temperament, whether the animal is good with children, and above all how far away it is. Listings varied wildly in quality between shelters, so the best matches were often the least visible.
What we did
We rebuilt search around the filters adopters use first, then gave shelters a listing-quality score with concrete prompts — add a second photo, describe temperament, confirm distance radius. Enquiry forms were shortened and routed to the shelter that can actually answer.
